David Stringer was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He is a graduate of George Washington University and the University of Baltimore School of Law, and prior to 2004 had spent much of his career specializing in real estate law, tax law, and trial litigation. He is a member of the Arizona Bar and an active member of the Yavapai County Bar Association.

David believes that learning should never stop. That is why he is also currently enrolled in a graduate program at Arizona State University leading to a Masters Degree in teaching English as a Second Language to Arizona’s large non-English speaking population.

Local Involvement

David has owned and operated the Comfort Inn on White Spar Road in Prescott since 2004 and resides in the Historic District of downtown Prescott. He is the former President of the Prescott Area Lodging Association and has served on the Mayor’s Tourism Advisory Committee. He was a founding Board member of the Prescott Area Women’s Shelter and has served on the Board of Yavapai Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Sharlot Hall Museum and Prescott Historical Society. For the past two years he has served as a Commissioner on the Prescott Planning and Zoning Commission, and was recently named to the Mayor’s Leadership Advisory Group by Prescott Mayor Harry Oberg.

Political Involvement

David has been active as a Republican Precinct Committeeman and State Committeeman for the Yavapai County Republican Party. He currently serves as co-chairman of the Finance Committee for the Yavapai County Republican Party.

David is a member of the Goldwater Institute, the Federalist Society, and supports Hillsdale College as a staunch advocate for individual liberties, lower taxes and less government.

Stringer became especially active when he helped spearhead the campaign that lead to the defeat of the 2013 PUSD school bond and budget override. This past year, he endorsed the much improved PUSD budget that passed by a large margin.

David is a founder of the Yavapai County Tax Committee and currently serves at their General Counsel. He is widely credited with organizing the campaign that led to the defeat of the Jail District Sales Tax in 2014.

David Stringer served in the Legislature. During that time, he sponsored 16 bills.

David Stringer served in the Legislature from 2017 to 2019. During that time, he was the prime sponsor for 16 bills.
One of the bills would reduce time spent on the Sexual Registry for Sex Offenders, allowing them to petition for early termination after 5 or 10 years
A couple of the bills would allow people to get a restricted license back sooner after a DUI or Reckless driving conviction
One bill would allow prisoners to receive Earned Release Credits faster – one day of credit for every one-three days, effectively reducing sentences by 25-50%
Another bill would raise the threshold of felony drug possession to dangerous, even deadly amounts
